The California Landscape Contractors Association is continually developing educational programs to keep its members at the forefront of industry knowledge and craftsmanship. The association currently offers three certification programs: Landscape Industry Certified Technician, Certified Water Manager, and the Water Efficiency Landscape Dual Certification.
Landscape Industry Certified Technician
The Landscape Industry Certified Technician program seeks to recognize proficiency in the landscape workforce, upgrade the status of the landscape professional and provide the public with a means of identifying qualified landscape professionals.
The Landscape Industry Certified Technician test is now an online test that is administered by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).
Certified Water Manager (CWM)
The California Landscape Contractors Association’s Water Management Certification Program was established in 2007 and helps the green industry reduce landscape water usage by certifying individuals through performance-based water budgeting. This unique program carries the WaterSense label from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and is also approved for continuing education units by NALP (formerly PLANET), the Irrigation Association and the International Association of Arboriculture.
Water Efficient Landscape Dual Certification
CLCA and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California now offer a one-of-a-kind certification and educational opportunity for landscape professionals in Southern California. This joint effort combines the CLCA Water Management Certification Program with the Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper program to offer the landscape industry an opportunity to obtain two nationally recognized EPA WaterSense Professional Certifications with one course and one written test.
